Pro:Direct Sport was founded in 1981 by Norman Lake and his sons, Martin and Adrian, and has grown into a leading global e-commerce retailer for performance sportswear. Still family-run and headquartered in Devon, the business employs over 400 people and has operated online since 1999.
The company specialises in premium, performance-focused products, particularly within football, and partners with major global brands to serve serious players and enthusiasts.
Pro:Direct had long produced ‘The BootBible’, an annual highly-anticipated publication featuring the football footwear chronicle, the latest seasons football highlights, interviews, exclusive events and boot concept art. However, over time, the relevance of the BootBible, meant it was put into retirement as the brand looked to evolve its offering into a different type of product.
The challenge was to find a new offering that could boost fan engagement, support product launches, and create a scalable revenue stream.They needed a partner and product that could do more than ‘just print’, moving beyond traditional print to something more interactive, collectible, and aligned with modern fan behaviour.
To achieve this, enter Precision Proco. Bringing a fresh new alternative to delivering more than ‘just print’, with end-to-end production capabilities and premium quality standards, there really was no other choice. Not only that we offered colour reproduction, precision cutting, secure randomisation, and retail-ready packs designed to create a hassle-free client experience, as well as a compelling customer experience that keeps collectors ‘chasing the set’.

Pro:Direct launched the 2025-26 Series 1 trading cards as both a free promotional item with boot orders over £40 and as retail booster packs. The goal was to deepen fans’ emotional connection to football boots while also creating a collectible product.
Precision Proco managed the entire UK-based production process, from materials and printing to collation and packaging. High-quality printing and precise finishing ensured premium cards, while controlled randomisation made each pack engaging and encouraged repeat purchases. Packs were securely wrapped and retail-ready, with strict quality checks throughout.
A key challenge was designing the pack system to include two premium “special” cards in each pack while maintaining overall randomness, alongside ensuring secure packaging and smooth distribution. This was also combined with tamper-resistant packaging and full operational planning to ensure a seamless end-to-end fulfilment into Pro:Direct’s network.
The Results
Series 1 launched in November 2025, with a 50 card set including 25 current season boots, plus 25 special cards split into four categories:
• Legends - Salute the silhouettes that rewrote the rules
• Hype - The boots that made timelines melt
• Signatures - Tap into icon energy
• OG’s - The heritage staples, where it all began
Each pack completely randomised containing 9 standard cards, and 2 guaranteed special cards.
