The client

The Adidas brand has a long and deep-rooted connection with sport. Its broad and diverse portfolio in both the sport performance and sports retail categories ranges from major global sports to regional grass root events.

Adidas UK's head office in Stockport is home to a large scale on-site consumer centre, where all the latest footwear and sports apparel products are displayed in a mock shopping centre, where buyers from all the major retailers can preview and place stock orders.

The problem

Transforming a vast, but empty gallery space

Precision Proco were tasked with providing premium, high-quality large scale graphics to deliver a huge football themed presence inline with the Adidas brand.

The gallery space measures a significant 25 metres long x 12 metres wide x 5 metres tall and becomes the main focal point for clients to walk through upon arrival.
The challenge was transforming such a large, open area into something more personal, welcoming and active, while creating an environment that reflected the Adidas brand snd its connection with football.
As part of a major thoroughfare for all foot traffic coming in and out of the building, including maintenance, catering, cleaners and visitors, the space needed to be kept physically open to all.
Couple this with limited hard fixings to walls or floors, no windows in the room, and full-length white panels running the length of each wall, the installation became quite the challenge.
The solution

creating an immersive 3D football installation

We were tasked with dressing the room in a football theme. After much brainstorming, the team arrived at the best 3D display they have achieved to date.

01

The project required creative thinking alongside practical production and installation planning, ensuring the final display delivered the visual impact Adidas wanted while working within the spaces physical limitations.

The large format team brainstormed ideas and visuals that would really take your breath away the moment they entered the room.

02

To avoid making any permanent alterations to the venue, the team first installed a raised false floor, constructed from battens and chipboard, across the entire space and into the profiled walls. This provided a stable surface for the artificial turf pitch, protected the original flooring, and discreetly concealed the weighted metal plates used to secure the goalposts.

03

The finished five-a-side pitch combined large format print, 3D display production and immersive environmental design to create a high-impact experience.

The installation included:

  • A full-sized astroturf football pitch

  • Full-size goalposts and nets

  • Football advertising boards
  • Crowd backdrops
  • Internationally kitted mannequins
  • A genuine Adidas Euro 2020 football position in the centre circle

  • Adidas challenge the norm. They approach their project work like their world-leading apparel and footwear brand, always pushing the boundaries for what is possible, striving to do something innovative that’s never been done before, all whilst making it more sustainable for the planet.
